Hexagons versus Yo Yo's

This is Janice's gorgeous hexagon quilt.  It is huge (100" x 100" approx).  There is a little group of quilting friends that I sew with on a Friday.  When Janice was putting this quilt together we all thought it would be a great idea to make one.  We made two hexagons for each other every week and had a swap at sewing.  This went on for about 2 years and it ensured that we had a large variety of fabrics.  Jan and Michelle have started sewing their's together and I decided to start with mine.  This is how far I got.

I had a lot of trouble with my wrists and hands sewing them together.  I then decided that I would  make a yo yo quilt instead (after discovering the clover yo yo maker).  Jan gave me all her yo yo's and I gave her all my hexagons.

I have made quite a few but now realise I will need hundreds of them to make a quilt!  Not to worry, the joy is in the making of them and watching the squares of fabric change into something beautiful when gathered together.
