What Is Going On!!!!

Queensland, Australia is suffering from its worst ever natural disaster.  I have been glued to the tv for most of the week in shock at the enormity of the Queensland floods.  As I write this post, four of our States are suffering from floods!  This time last year we were in drought suffering from 40 plus temperatures and now there has been so much rain, that any area that gets a big downpour is at risk.  There are lots of ways we can help.  Donations can be made through The Qld Premier's Flood Relief Appeal .  Also, Make It Perfect is hosting an online Auction and if you click on the links, you will be able to find out all the details.

My heart goes out to everyone who has been affected in some way by this catastrophic event, especially to those who have lost loved ones. I fear that it will take years and years to fully recover from this  and there are still towns bracing themselves for the worst as this massive amount of water travels down our river systems.

On a brighter note, Swan Lake is finally together Yay!!!

Even Buddy is pretty impressed!

I still have a bit of applique to go but at least now, she looks like a quilt and I am very excited to be near the end.

I also had the honour of viewing another Swan Lake quilt on Wednesday.  Pleas from New Zealand has "crossed the ditch" to come visit and participate in Patchwork on Stonleigh's Summer School.  We had a little Show & Tell at class with Susan's, Pleas's and my quilts.  Pleas has added some little dollies to her centre and it looks fantastic.

It is a little hard to tell in the photo, but there are three Swan Lake quilts all laid out on top of each other!!!

I also received a lovely surprise in the mail this week, all the way from Cyprus!  Valentina sent me this wonderful diary from the V & A Museum.  Look at all the wonderful clamshells on the cover!!  Thank you beautiful Valentina!

I've been praying for your country Sue-Anne...how awful all of that flooding is and so heartbreaking to hear of all of the devastation.

Swan Lake is one of the most perfect quilts I've ever seen and you must be thrilled to have it all together. Exquisite work! Question: Is it hard to applique in the center when it's that large?

Oh and Miriam gave me the little diary for Christmas (I love it). Sweet friends we have!

We see the massive flooding on our news but it is nearly impossible to fathom the level of devastation involved. Best wishes to everyone as they rebuild.

All three quilts are spectacular. You must be very proud of what you have accomplished.

We have been getting a lot of coverage about the floods here in the UK and is a very difficult time for you all. It seems every year their is some natural disaster somewhere in the world with the poor countries not getting the support or relief they need so badly.
The Swan lakes look absolutely wonderful. You must be pleased it is together now.

It's sad beyond word can described. At least we can spread the words through power of blogging for help. Your Swan Lake is gorgeous. I like Pleas's version too. Both are stunning!

Swan Lake is looking amazing. I never asked, do you have a particular bed in mind for it to reside on when it's done? Or a wall?

The Queensland tragedy is horrible. I've been following Kris at TagalongTeddies in Toowoomba. Fortunately, their house wasn't flooded, but all the roads are cut off. It is just awful. Here in the States, we have had some rotten winter weather, but our main problem lately is crazy people with guns.

Great Swan Lake all thoes dancing dollies. I admire your stamina. What class did you do at Stonely?

The news from up north is devastating. I know you and family have been effected this year as well. Australia is a country of extremes.

We will all help as is the Aussie way.
I also recieved the beautiful Diary. We are lucky.

Hi Sue-Anne
wow wow wow, your Swan Lake is stunning, congratulations you must be so thrilled.
I am gutted about Patchwork on Stonleigh but happy for the girls.
Floods are devistating, can't begin to imagine what it must be like.

The floods are just awful! I can't watch the news any more, it is so upsetting. We had flooding in 2009 which was terrible for the country but nothing of that magnitude.

Your Swan Lake is gorgeous!!

I am blown away by your beautiful quilt, I love it.
I also have the diary, a present from a very thoughtful friend.
My sister in law has just moved to Queensland, bad timing, but she is safe. Who knows the reasons for paths we tread. I wish everyone safe lives.
