We had another wonderful road trip down to Melbourne yesterday to attend Quilts in the Barn. This year's exhibitor was Jo Morton and her quilts were magnificent. Here is a very small sampling of some of the quilts that were on display.
This quilt was one of the many antique quilts laid out over tables inside and outside the barn. The weather was perfect, Melbourne put on a beautiful sunny and warm Spring day and after viewing the quilts, we sat outside and enjoyed a cuppa and a piece of homemade fruit cake. We bumped into Elyte on the way out and Shirley, I got my hug!
Elyte and I.
L to R - Michelle, Elyte, me, Linda, Jan, Helen.
The Quilted Crow girls were there with their shop, selling lots of Jo Morton fabric and I came home with this piece. You know how it goes, you just have to have it.
After leaving the Barn, we made our way across the suburbs, stopping along the way at various quilt shops and these are what came home with me. I got home just after 9.30pm so a very long, but very enjoyable day.
A huge thank you to Linda and her many friends that have helped her put on this magnificent exhibition. It has definately become an annual event for us "Friday Girls".

Wonderful sampelling of Jo's work. Thanx for the virtual tour. The stripe is to die for as are the rest of your treasures. A long day that sounded like a good one.
Glad that you had a safe and productive trip. We had our monthly sewing day today and chuckled most of the day remembering little bits and pieces of our previous day out.
Love your photos and see you at the next event, whenever that may be.
Lovely to see photos of the quilts and you girls there...Oh, how I wish I could have been there too!

Sue-Anne, looks loi8ke you haqd a great time... and nice to see the photos too :)
Wonderful, thanks for sharing. XXX
we went today and it was still a lovely day, after last year melbourne is being very kind to linda with the weather! now i know what jan looks like, were were chatting emails the other day! we will have to try and coordinate our visits next year! i have some pictures to post also!
Wish I've could've been there, but unfortunately it's a bit to far from the Netherlands to hop over. I'm always looking at those exhibitionphoto's, to see if I can catch a glimps of my sister Patricia Scheltus, who lives in Melton, and who quilts too, member of a quiltbee in Melton.
Hope you have a lovely spring!
What fun! I like Jo Morton fabric and her quilts too. Unfortunately very few shops in this area carry her fabric. Would you believe I live only 5 or so hours drive from Jo but have not gone to any of her workshops? I'm going to have to change that!
I am so glad that you got your hug at last even if it was in proxy. One day I hope it will be the real thing and that will be something to have the three of us in one room.
The exhibition looks like it was a knockout. Lots of love to you.
what a great day out...........
Looks like you had a marvelous day. Thanks for sharing all the photos. That antique quilt on the table looks very fun!
How wonderful and all those Jo quilts are gorgeous!!!!! Man they would look fantastic in my home. Share more photos!!!
Sue-Anne, looked like you had a wonderful time!!! Such lovely quilts and lovely friends with which to share them!!! I have one quick question - the fourth picture down - appliqued medallion quilt - is there a pattern for it? I've looked on the web, but didn't find it. Thanks for any help you could provide.
Blessings
thank you for sharing the pictures, oh how I wish I could have been there!
Love the new applique quilt can't wait for that book to come out!
Anna's baskets has always been one of my favorites...

Now, that is what you call a perfect day. :)
thanks for sharing Jo's quilts! Lovely!
Thanks for taking us along to Jo's show. Her quilts are just so fantastic.
Oh gosh these are amazing. I love them all but I'm really taken with how she used that black fabric in the stripping nine patch. When that fabric came out I couldn't think how to use. Ha! That's why she's Jo and I'm me. Thanks for sharing all this inspiration. I'm so happy for you that you were able to attend. WHAT A THRILL.
Are all the quilts actually displayed in the barn? I cannot tell how large the barn is. I would love to visit there some day but that isn't going to happen. I just have to see it through other's pictures.
Sue-Anne,
Could you tell me who made the large floral in your row of small pieces? and where you found it?
Thanks,
Laura
ATTENTION LAURA:
I'm sorry but I have no idea what the name of that fabric is. I bought a tiny scrap piece from a shop in Melbourne and unfortunately there is no information on the selvedge.
