Swan Lake, Klosjes & My Favourite Annual Visitors

I have been working this week on Swan Lake and finally, after a major hiccup due to me not reading my class notes properly, I have the borders joined together - Yay!!!!

I have also been making some more hexagons for the 2nd border and the one above is my favourite for this week.

Due to my monumental stuff up, I have only completed two Klosjes this week.  This brings my total to 69 and I am going to make at least one more tonight so I reach 70!

The Currawongs have arrived this week.  I think they are a little bit early but I am thankful that they have returned.  There was a mob of them in the trees around our home and I love hearing them call each other in the mornings.  They are fascinating to watch and they seem to perform a relay amongst the trees with each other.  I think the one drinking out of the bird feeder is a young one because he is a lot greyer than the others.

The weather has finally turned and we have had lots of rain in the last 24 hours,, which our garden desperately needs, and it is perfect for spending the rest of the weekend inside stitching.  Wherever you are I hope you are having a lovely weekend too.

Oh, pretty, pretty! I did think for a moment that you were going to applique the hexies to a pre quilted top..........Duh. Time to go back to bed. Are you getting excited about clamshells? I figure one a day would amount to 30 a month, anybody can do one a day, right? Since I have not got a plan for using them yet, I plan to just get them stitched to the papers, and applique them together when I come up with a plan. How about you?

Swan lake blends in beautifully with the colours of your floor tiles. That is going to be such a wonderful quilt. Every klosje is one step nearer to a quilt. Like your birds, not heard of them before.

hey, 2 klosjes AND all the other stuff you have been doing is a great achievement. Can't wait to see the quilt finished.

Your birdpictures are very nice...are these a kind of crows?

Bye for now,

Your swan lake is looking lovely, and your hexies are divine. l made my first flower last week, l am using Jo Morton fabrics.
l didn't realize the currawongs are annual visitors. l heard a bird call the other day that was not too familiar, maybe its them. Must keep an eye out for them.
Thanks for sharing.

The ladies at the border are beautiful and much bigger than I thought they would be. Your fabric choices for your second row hexagons are also very beautiful.

I remember the first time I heard a Currawong, they make amazing noises. We have quite a few living around us. The Hexes and your border looks fantastic, cheering you on here.

Beautiful quilt-in-progress!

Yes, the currawongs are here in Brisbane too!! Lovely calls, especially late in the afternoon. I'm waiting for the yellowtail black cockatoos, I know when they are here as I can hear them stripping the bark from the trees!! They have a horrible call - they all sound like they have severe laryngitis!!

Happy Sewing!

There's just something about hexagons...I haven't tried them yet, but they look very addictive & lovely. What size are the klosjes blocks?...I call them cotton reel blocks 'cause I can never remember their proper name...LOL.

Hi Sue-Anne, Swan Lake is looking really good - I love the Dancing Dollies. Very nice with the fussy cutting (or at least strategic placement) with the hexagons. The colours are really lovely. Keep up the good work :)

We don't get Carrawongs here - I found them fascinating last year when we went to the Grampians. The cafe owners where I sat and watched them didn't. They are very cheeky stealing food of the plates. Your Swan Lake is very nice lots of work there.
