Pets Behaving Badly And A Project Update

Buddy discovered this dinner plate on a stool and decided that there might be something up there for him.  He's just not quite tall enough!

Max has a basket that sits on the pool table.  Everyone knows it is his but occasionally Milo thinks he will sneak a snooze in it.  Milo was sound asleep when Max discovered him there.  He stood over him, squared up his shoulders and glared, then swiped as quick as a cobra.  Milo got such a fright, he jumped, kicked the basket and fell off the table.  Lucky cats land on their feet.  Can you see the terror in his eyes?

I have finished one of my Browne Sisters blocks and  and only have the basket to applique on the 2nd.  I love how it looks after all the frayed edges have been turned under.

I have finally made a start on Phebe after deciding on a 3rd background fabric!  It doesn't look like much I know, but I have traced out over 200 pieces onto freezer paper and have the "coveted" green hill fabric cut out and stuck down.

Joke has told me that Klosjes are not sewn just on Saturdays.  Saturday is the day that everyone shows what they have done for the week.  Valentina says she spends Saturday preparing her blocks ready for sewing through the week.  This is bittersweet news because it means I can sew them EVERYDAY of the week, but if I do, I won't get anything else done.....

Now that is music to my ears. I shan't feel guilty making a few more klosjes. woohoo! I was beginning to have withdrawal symptoms. Phebe is going to be beautiful I know. You have some very pretty fabrics in your other blocks. Why do other peoples fabrics always look so much nicer?

Please, Sue-Anne, do not feel sad or pressured re: the Klosjes. I would love to spend saturdays stitching... It's just not my reality with little kids. But the pleasure of Klosjes is that they can be anything we want them to be! And you know that when Saturday arrives, we will be ALL visiting each other and oooooh-ing and aaaaaah-ing each other on!
It is so special to me to be sharing these little darlings with you...
Because such lovely projects like Phebe unfortunately are just too out of reach for me at this time. But that's where I can enjoy and learn seeing you taking it on!

Animals are entertaining! I'm so glad you shared the information about the Klosjes, Saturdays are still good for me but I can try and prep plenty for the week in case I feel like it.
Applique prep takes a long time, you've made a good start and your background is lovely.

Your kitties are beautiful. I could really sense Max's territorial feelings about that basket!

I'm really looking forward to seeing your center block on Phebe get completed. The fabric for the hill looks terrific. As I recall it is the focal point of the quilt and you had a tough time locating it, right? I can't wait to see it all done. 8)

I'm getting seduced by Klosjes. I've seen three Kloshes variations now. Yours, spools with pieced fabric for the thread part and tan spindles, and spools like yours only with tan spindles. I'm kind of leaning towards spools like yours with tan spindles on the ends, but I'll have to think about it some more. 8)

Happy stitching,
Susan

LOL - those kitties have a language of their own! I wouldn't want to be in between them!

LOVE your applique! So pretty and almost Jacobean.

LOL!! I love seeing your pets! So cute. My Buddy liked trying to figure out how to get to the goodies to. Boy, who needs to speak, when body language says it all!! (I'm referring to your kitties LOL )
I love your applique blocks!! I know that you have put in a lot of time with them! They're beautiful! :0)

Lovely start on your Phebe. I think the background is just right. Have as much fun as you want with the spools - it will be a nice change after the litle Phebe pieces.

I love the start you have made on the Browne sisters sampler, you are very inspiring. As much as i would love to join in on the Klosjes , I think I have enough projects on the go, however I will watch from the sidelines with interest

That made me laugh because our old cocker spaniel just sits and stares at Miss Martha if he wants to be where she is, she always, without fail will wake up and move, uncanny! Love the applique Sue-Anne and the start on Phebe, she keeps popping up all over the place to make me feel guilty for not starting her yet!!

Your cats are so cute. Buddy is such a clever little dog. It doesn't hurt trying right? You have done such a beautiful job on your applique. I had a close up peek. Oh, now you are talking! I thought that you only stitch Klosjes on Saturday too. You mean now I can stitch them everyday of the week? Hahaha! Huts Nat

I too am really thinking about the spool blocks...oh well, it will happen when it happens!! Your dog at the dinner plate reminds me of when we left the dogs in the house and went for a walk. When we came back, they were on the table licking plates!! It was really hilarious to see their guilty faces.

Yay, you started on Phoebe! Well done.

Aww, poor Milo. I've seen those terrified eyes before - funny if you're looking at them, not so funny if you're looking through them! And Buddy, poor Buddy - vertically challenged can be an issue . . .

Your Browne Sisters Sampler's looking lovely. Now what are you going to work on when part 2 comes out - Sampler? Phoebe? Klosjes? Decisions, decisions.

Regards, Sue

Hi Sue-Anne, love the cat & dog story. Pets are the funniest things. From the photo's you could pretty well see that Max is not impressed at all with Milo being there all nice and snug!!! Kind regards, Anita.

Always like to read pet-stories, I have 2 dogs myself. I really love your applique work. I found your beautifull blog in search of information on 'klosjes'. Yesterday I made my first 4, by hand! I normally sew everything on the sewingmachine. good luck to you.

Oh Max and Milo - what a hoot! I love this photo as I can really see what's going on here and, well, I'm sorta glad to know I'm not the only one that suffers from cat confrontations.

Buddy is a cute, cute, cute dog! Is he a Havanese by chance? I'm just guessing but he's got that look so I thought I'd try...

Ahh you mean we can sew all week long on our Klosjes? Shucks. Oh well that's okay. I guess that means I can start some this afternoon. :)

Sue-Anne, you Browne Sisters block is amazing and just so you know I want to do work like you do when I grow up, ok? Just so you know. Wow!

Your Max is so lovely (and Milo too) I have a weakness for black and whites. He looks just like my beloved Boots that I had years ago. I think Milo thought it was good while it lasted.
Your applique is wonderful.
