Switching from Phebe to Swan lake

I thought I would give you all a break from Phebe, I have been a bit obsessed about it and have neglected my other projects.   I have to make 107 hexagon flowers for Swan Lake.  Doesn't sound like too many, until I realised that means it is actually 749 hexagons to cover and sew together!

Buddy boy had a date with LA Clips yesterday.  His paws were so matted underneath that it all had to come off.  He looks like a totally different dog and is a little depressed at the moment, even though he came home with a new bandana to add to his collection.

I went visiting to Patchwork on Stonleigh today and came home with the most beautiful fabric.  It is from the Twelve Oaks range by Judie Rothermel.  I bought a fat quarter to make a little sewing bag for my hexagons - can't have too many sewing bags!

The other item I purchased was this magazine from our local newsagent.  I have seen it on blogs before and  was very happy to see it "in the flesh" for the first time today.  It is a fantastic magazine, full of inspirational quilts and I thoroughly enjoyed browsing through it this afternoon.

This is Kellie dressed up as a Vampire for her work party on Monday night.  She works at a pub and looked even paler Tuesday afternoon when she dragged herself out of bed after a big night of free drinks!!!

Those hexagons are lovely. I'm afraid cutting 749 of them out would do me in! Do you English paper piece them and could you point me to the Swan Lake quilt pattern?

I love your hexagons, I too am addicted, but I do my the Inklingo way, that is I print on the fabric and stitch onthe printed lines, it saves on all those templates.
Your little buddy is gorgeous too. Unfortunately my Honey is deteriorating fast. Need to make the most of them while we can.

Hexagons and spools? All the hand work you do, makes me feel so lazy. But I love seeing everyone's project, so ignore me and keep it up.

Little Buddy looks three shade lighter just like my Woodrow does after a bath! Don't you love cuddleling them when they are freshly washed........they just feel so silky.

Please do tell us your favorite way of doing the hexies, won't you. I love your tutes! Love, Michele

Hi Sue-Anne,
Be brave, do it. The result will be stunning. I have Quiltmania magazine on a subscription. It is a really sweet magazine with such lovely, old fashioned quilts. My favourite article is enchanting Homes and Quilts. I just love to see how people use their quilts. How cute is that first photo of Buddy?

"Is that a lot of Hexies, Mummy?" That's what Buddy seems to be thinking in that first picture, oh, how adorable he looks! Sending him a big cuddle! And Sue-Ann, I will be thinking of you as I too am working on some hexies today. Earlier I was tracing all my shapes on Freezer-paper and was sooooo excited! Thank you so much for that boost of Confidence! I'll take pix to send you.
:)
Hoping you have a lovely Easter,
Valentina

Good luck with the hexagons Sue-Anne, it's the only pattern I avoid like the plague in patchwork!! I love looking at other people's though!! Buddy looks adorable, funny isn't it, Miss Martha is much happier when she's had her monthly bath and tidy, she prances around and shows off her beautiful clean self???
Have a great weekend.

I liked the first number of hexagons you said you needed. When you went up to 700 plus, wow! That is a lot but you can do it.

Buddy looks terrific! So fresh and spiffy. 8) I'll miss Phebe. That center block is a work of art. I haven't tried hexagons, but I love the patchwork fabric you found. You should be able to get lots of different little hexies out of that. 8)

Happy stitching,
Susan

Love your hexagons. If you try the Inklingo methed before you start on the English Piecing - its very acurate and fast too...You can check it out on . http://lindafranz.com/ You iron the fabric to freezer paper, print it on an inkjet printer...peel the fabric off and either rotary cut or sissor cut the shapes.. The sewing lines are all printed and marked so the seams all match and you use a running stitch to sew them together. Its very fast, and very precise. It has certainly changed my thinking...There is a free collection of Le Moyne Stars that you can download to try it...also some free books too. Buddy looked so cute too. Have enjoyed your blog too...hope to return :)

Hi Sue-Anne, boy those hexagons will keep you busy and I love your guard dog. I love your description of Kellie waking up even paler after a hard night. I don't drink any alcohol, but if I happen to smell any alcohol that's what I wake up like!!! lol. Hope she is feeling well now. Kind regards, Anita.
