Finished Finally/Nowhere Near It

I have finally finished Me & my Shadow!  The last lot of applique took me longer than I expected but now I am looking forward to finding a suitable backing and sending it off to Rose for quilting.

Sue Ross came down from Sydney last year and taught a class with our local quilt group (Murray River Quilters).  I thoroughly enjoyed the class and learnt so much about colour and balance, but the biggest thing I learnt was that I could machine piece Lemoyne Stars if I really concentrated!!!

I have grand plans for the border of this quilt but I had put it in a sewing bag and forgot about it till I found it the other day while looking for something else.

Haha that sound just like me, putting things away in bags and forget all about them! What a nice looking quilt. I love red and you have used it in a very interesting way with pinstripes - Hugs Nat

Hi Sue-Anne,
I am so excited to have a new follower, I hope I won't disappoint. Love the applique but it sounds like you have more common sense than me, sending it off to be quilted seems like a very good plan. Some of those hidden quilts would get finished if I did that.

Hi there! Thanks so much for visiting my blog and letting me know that you exist. From another of the "colonies" in Canada, I'll be back for sure. A lovely blog and your work is wonderful to look at.

Sue-Anne, Me and My Shadow looks fantastic! Such a lovely quilt.

What a lovely find . . . the other quilt hiding away in your sewing bag (that's the problem when you have a thing for making sewing bags!!!). I can't wait to see it with the border. Your Lemoyne stars look great - the red & white strip really makes them shine.

Regards, Sue

Hi Sue Ann, Thanks for stopping by. To answer your question, I painted the red above the doorway and added molding on each edge of it to make a separation at one time. It has never looked right to me so now it is time to undo it. Hope that answers your question! :-)
